At a town hall meeting this summer, I heard Rep. Kevin Brady refer to the "Democrat" counties in his district. At the time, I thought he had misspoken. The Courier, the official Kevin Brady Fan Club Newsletter, recently published one of his inane rants about healthcare reform. Aside from his usual drivel on the subject, Brady again made this claim that portions of his district are Blue. In fact, he infers that he is sitting on a bastion of liberalism. Hardly.
"He (Brady) emphasized that nine of the 11 counties he represents are predominately Democrat." - The Courier, November 4, 2009
FALSE! What parallel universe is he living in? Every county in the district voted overwhelmingly for John McCain in 2008. Every county in the district voted overwhelmingly to re-elect George W. Bush in 2004. With the exception of Newton County, every county voted overwhelmingly for George W. Bush in 2000 (Gore got 50% of the vote in Newton County in 2000).
Kevin Brady's claim is true if he operates off of a 1992 electoral map. Despite the outstanding efforts of dedicated Democrats all across the 8th district, it remains one of the reddest congressional districts in the United States. Regardless of whatever delusion he is under, Brady does not represent the interests of Democrats in his district. Democrats don't vote for him. Democrats don't like him. I'm not entirely certain, but it might have something to do with him being a corporate sellout and a right-wing nut.

Democrats don't like him and neither do us Republicans! He is definately NOT conservative and can hardly be considered as right-wing. It is time for him go and put someone who is truely conservative in to represent this very red district. My vote is for Tyler Russell. He is the first candidate with enough guts to run against Brady in the 14 years he has been in office. Russell is extremely conservative and will defend our Constitution.
ReplyDeleteI agree! But I am casting my vote for Melecio Franco. He is much stronger than Russel, and calls Brady out on everything he has done. I think he will be the stronger candidate to handle representing us in Washington! He is pro-life, believes in the right to own guns FREELY, to speak up for what we believe, and STAND UP to face the minority views that seem to be running this country. He will definately uphold and protect the Constitution and our views.
